Leading Aged Care Group Switching To Online Emergency Preparedness Training

“We have been struggling to organise training for all of our staff, now that we have recruited more casuals and arranged more shifts.”

For businesses that have a workforce comprising of shift workers, staying compliant in accordance with AS 3745 – Planning for Emergencies in Facilities can be a challenge.

First 5 Minutes was approached by an Australian leading aged care group, with over 75 building sites nationwide, to assist in developing an emergency preparedness solution that would ensure all staff have timely access to their site-specific training, therefore, allowing them to maintain their AS 3745 compliance.

Live Web-Based Training

A whole host of training events needed to be delivered including Emergency Coordinator/Chief Warden training; All Staff Emergency Preparedness along Emergency Planning Committee meetings. To deliver a flexible solution, that allowed staff to access training, whether they were at home or in the workplace, First 5 Minutes hosted all training via our two available webinar platforms Zoom and Microsoft Teams. The training was live and site-specific, covering the emergency procedures that were unique to each aged care site.

All live webinars were recorded and made available on the F5M Self-Paced Online Training platform. This provided any staff members that were unable to attend the live event access to their training. Online course completions were captured and used to generate a complete attendance report that combined the attendance from both the live training event with the online completions. All attendance registers and training reports were then made available to all aged care sites on Webconnect – F5M online compliance management portal for future reference.

Online training is much more effective and less time consuming”.

Feedback from staff on the new experience has been extremely positive,

“Online training is much more effective and less tiem consuming.”
