What is a Personal Threat?

A person who is behaving in an aggressive, threatening or violent manner, and may or may not be armed

This can include confrontation and verbal abuse with a person, verbal abuse over the phone and assaults. Such incidents can involve or be caused by angry customers, employment/workplace disputes, domestic disputes, civil disturbances or persons under the influence of drugs. Employee interventions can have a profound impact on the safety and outcome of a personal threat emergency. It is imperative that staff members know how to respond effectively and have a proper emergency response procedure in place.
