When a family first learns their child has a serious illness, their world changes instantly. This is the harsh reality for many families every day. The burden can be even heavier for families from regional areas, where the medical resources required are a long way from home. Through support and donations, Ronald McDonald House is able to ease the burden of these families by providing somewhere for them to stay while their child receives lifesaving treatment.
Ronald McDonald House recently engaged with First 5 Minutes, to optimise the level of life and fire safety at their Perth facility.
Working closely with the charity’s local team, First 5 Minutes designed and delivered effective emergency plans and evacuation diagrams for the property – resulting in full regulatory compliance and a safer environment for occupants and visitors. In support of the organisation, these services were provided at heavily discounted rates, as part of First 5 Minutes’ Corporate Social Responsibility Program.
In a letter of thanks, Bec Scott, Manager of Mission Funding, wrote, “Thank you for supporting our mission to care for WA families in their hour of need. Thanks to the systems that the First 5 Minutes have developed, Ronald McDonald House Perth can continue to provide a safe ‘home away from home’.”
Supporting charitable foundations, such as Ronald McDonald House, is core to First 5 Minutes’ Corporate Social Responsibility Program and its ongoing mission to creating a safer Australia.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to work with Ronald McDonald House and commend their commitment to providing safe environments for children and families in need. Their Work is extremely valuable to both local and regional communities and we encourage other members of the business community to get involved.”
- Gillian Swindells, General Manager West, First 5 Minutes
