Training Services

Workplace security awareness is a subject of ever increasing importance to Australian businesses. Recent worldwide events have highlighted the possibility of security threats to both specific and random targets. As a result, Australia remains on a heightened security alert for threats involving bio-chemicals and explosives.

One area of particular concern is the danger of explosive or chemically harmful substances being delivered via mail or courier service. These types of threats can be delivered with a warning communicated via telephone, email, mail or in person (see Bomb & Hazardous Threat Response Training). However, mail-based threats can also be received with no warning or communication from the sender. It is therefore essential that staff members know what to do when a 'suspicious package' is received. Being prepared for such cases is crucial to minimising the impact the threat presents to the facility and its occupants.

Training outline

This training module focuses on:

  • Workplace Security Awareness
  • Indicators/characteristics of suspicious packages & mail
  • Procedures for handling unopened suspicious packages
  • Procedures for handling already opened suspicious packages
  • Reporting suspicious packages
  • Bomb & Hazardous Threats
  • Chemical & Biological Threats

According to the Workplace Health and Safety Act, persons in control of a workplace must ensure the safety of all persons under their control. This includes the provision of information, training instruction or supervision that is necessary to protect all persons from risks to their health and safety arising from work carried out.

First 5 Minutes' Tenant Briefs provide tenants with information and instruction on the basic emergency response procedures and warden skills for their base building. Tenants are required to pass this information on to their staff/occupants accordingly.

Who are Tenant Briefs for?

Tenant Briefs are suitable for:

  • Tenants who are not able to attend group emergency response training sessions
  • Buildings/facilities with very low occupancy
  • Buildings/facilities that have numerous individual tenants with small workforces (e.g. shopping centres, etc.)

Duration

Tenant Briefs typically run for approximately 15 minutes, per brief.

Packages for multiple Tenant Briefs are also available. Speak to us to discuss your requirements.

In recent years Australia has experienced an increase in incidents involving armed intruders and/or robbery. With the subsequent rise in security concerns, it has never been more important for building managers, occupants and employees to review the security measures and threat response plans for their premises. Possible motives behind such incidents can include; robbery, drug-related crime, political activism, acts of terrorism, etc. The incurred dangers include the possibilities of death, temporary or permanent injury and/or psychological trauma.

Nobody Gets Hurt

It is essential that employees/occupants know how to act in a manner that optimises their chances of coming out of the situation unharmed. This training module covers planning measures and procedures for before, during and after an incident, including:
