Melbourne Milk Bar Robbed at Gun Point

Just before 9am on Saturday May 20th, a St Kilda East milk bar was robbed by a masked man armed with a sawn-off shotgun. The male shop owner was confronted and the offender escaped with cash and cigarettes. After the robbery on Alexandra St, the man fled in a silver Mercedes-Benz Viano van with taped over registration plates; driven by a getaway driver.No shots were fired during the armed robbery and no injuries were reported.Police are looking for a man, 185 centimetres tall, with a solid build and an Australian accent.A spate of armed robberies in Melbourne recently highlights the growing importance for all businesses to carefully review their security measures and prepare a response plan, in the event an armed robbery occurs.
