Gang Storm Melbourne Barbershop and Attack Patrons

28 June , 2017

Just after 5pm on Friday June 23rd, a gang of up to 15 men stormed a barbershop and began fighting with a group of patrons inside. One man was hit in the back of the head with a tomahawk and taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

The barbershop located on Nicholson St, Footscray sustained significant damage and $600 was stolen from the register. Police have released CCTV footage of the men involved. No staff were involved in the fight. Police believe the two groups are known to one another.

Gang related violence is just one example of threat related incidents that can impact a workplace or public space. Such incidents highlight the importance of businesses taking proactive measures to maximise the safety of employees and customers, by establishing threat response procedures for the workplace.
