Fire Safety Advisory Training
As of 1 July 2009 the revised Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 requires that ‘high occupancy buildings’ appoint a Fire Safety Advisor. High occupancy buildings are defined as:
- Workplaces where there are 30 or more employees, a
- Class 2 or 3 building that is more than 25m in height
- Licensed premises or class 4 that have been identified by the Commissioner
The Fire Safety Training course is designed to provide participants with the skill, knowledge and experience to perform the duties of a Fire Safety Advisor. TheTraining course provides knowledge in preparing for emergencies, operation of workplace emergency systems, command and control, liaison with emergency services and communication needs to safely and effectively deal with workplace emergencies.
Understand the role and responsibilities of the Fire Safety Advisor;
- Develop an understanding of the Legislation that impacts on building fire safety in Queensland
- Identify fire safety installations/equipment in a building
- Develop an awareness and understanding of maintenance and records pertaining to fire safety
- Develop risk management strategies and understand the emergency planning process
- Understand the role and responsibilities of emergency control organisation members
- Understand the role and functions of the emergency planning committee
- Select and operate portable fire fighting equipment
Conduct and evaluate evacuation procedures and fire drills
Successful completion of the Fire Safety Training course results in the award of nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for units from the Public Safety Training Package.
Successful completion can lead to employment as a Fire Safety Advisor.
Fire Safety Training course is delivered by First Five Minutes. First Five Minutes has established a formidable track record of success nationally, in the fire and emergency response field and is now widely acknowledged as an industry leader. First Five Minutes staff are experienced, not only in fire and emergency response procedures, but also in communicating that knowledge to those they train.
This course is delivered face-to-face and includes practical scenarios including emergency evacuation procedures. Evidence of understanding is judged through questions and answers during the session and the evacuation exercise.
This course is delivered over 3 days— 9.00am to 5.00pm
