Emergency Evacuation Management Plan
First 5 Minutes prepares people to handle emergency situations by conducting a risk assessment of the facility and establishing an Emergency Evacuation Management Plan detailing the actions to be taken by the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) and all occupants when an incident occurs.
Dependent on the risk assessment a First 5 Minutes Emergency Evacuation Management Plan is compiled to cover the following types of emergencies in general: fire; medical emergency; bomb or substance threat; Improvised Explosive Devices; civil disorder/armed confrontation; chemical, biological or radiological incidents and earthquake. However, it can be expanded to provide specific procedure for the following types of emergencies: cyclones, including storm surge; flood; bushfire; terrorism or other type of incident identified in the risk assessment.
The Emergency Evacuation Management Plan also supports the ongoing skill maintenance activities for the ECO. The document is designed to comply with the recommendations of Australian Standard 3745-2002 Emergency Control Organisation and procedures for buildings, structures and workplaces as well as State and Territory legislation.
A document such as this, complemented by a trained Emergency Control Organisation is an accepted process to maximise life safety should an emergency situation occur.
